Let’s Talk About the Thing We’re All Most Embarrassed to Admit...

I want to get real with you for a moment, because I know there’s something that a lot of us are often too embarrassed to admit: the fear that our business might fail.

I’ve been there. And I’m betting you have too.

When I first started my fairy hair business, I was terrified that it wouldn’t work. I was constantly questioning myself—What if I can’t get enough clients? What if people don’t love it? What if this dream just doesn’t pan out?

There were sleepless nights where I was scared I’d have to close my business. The fear of failure can be paralyzing, and it’s something we don’t always like to talk about, but I want to tell you this—it’s normal.

What If My Business Fails?

This is one of the hardest questions to ask ourselves, but it’s also one of the most powerful. The truth is, every entrepreneur has this thought at some point. It doesn’t matter if you’re just starting out or if you’ve been running your business for years—there’s always that lingering fear that things won’t go as planned.

But here’s what I’ve learned: Success isn’t about everything going perfectly. It’s about how you define success for yourself and how you navigate those tough moments.

For me, success isn’t just about making money (although, yes, we all need that!). It’s about building something I’m proud of, something that aligns with my values, and something that brings joy to others. It’s about knowing that even if I hit bumps along the way, I have the drive and the determination to figure it out and keep going.

Here’s What I Wish I Knew Sooner

If you’re afraid of failing, know that you’re not alone. I want to share some things that helped me move past those fears and build a successful business—and I believe they can help you too:

  • Don’t Be Afraid of Imperfection: Your business won’t always be perfect, and that’s okay. What’s important is that you’re showing up, taking action, and learning as you go. The only failure is not trying.

  • Success Isn’t Instant: Give yourself grace. It takes time to build something worthwhile, and setbacks don’t mean you’re failing. They’re part of the journey.

  • Define Success for Yourself: What does success look like for you? Maybe it’s financial stability, or maybe it’s having the freedom to do what you love while helping others. Whatever it is, keep that vision in mind and let it guide you through the tough times.

Let Go of Fear and Embrace the Journey

The next time that voice of fear creeps in and makes you doubt yourself, remember this:

You’ve got what it takes.

You have the passion, the drive, and the ability to build a business you’re proud of. And yes, you’ll face challenges. But you’ll also gain confidence, grow stronger, and learn how to create a business that works for you.

I’m here to remind you that it’s okay to have doubts—it’s part of the process. What’s not okay is letting that fear stop you from going after what you want. You’ve come this far for a reason, and you have what it takes to succeed.

So, take a deep breath, let go of the fear of failure, and know that I’m here to support you every step of the way.

You’ve got this!
